Today in class we got in groups to discuss WebQuest. As the Affiliator: To you, the best learning activities are those in which students learn to work together. WebQuests that force collaboration and create a need for discussion and consensus are the best in your view. If a WebQuest could be done by a student working alone, it leaves you cold. After discussing as a group the 5 different webpage assignemnets I decided that the unraveling the undergrouprailroad would be the most educational research project. Although as a group we all decided that the we all scream for ice cream project is by far the funner and cuter project that deals with reasearch. None of the projects really involved all four of the different view poimts. This assignment related to the ISTE nets as far as number 2:
Communication and Collaboration
Students use digital media and environments to communicate and work collaboratively, including at a distance, to support individual learning and contribute to the learning of others. Students:
a. interact, collaborate, and publish with peers, experts, or others employing a variety of digital environments and media.
b. communicate information and ideas effectively to multiple audiences using a variety of media and formats.
This is a good classroom activity I would consider in the future because it is fun, educational, and helps involve technology while learning. I feel that students would engage in this activity and grow from it.

In class today we responded to the digital stories the eight indians made.I thiknk this is a neat way to allow children to use their imagination with technology. Number six in the ISTE nets meet the standards of this project.
6. Technology Operations and Concepts
Students demonstrate a sound understanding of technology concepts, systems, and operations. Students:
a. understand and use technology systems.
b. select and use applications effectively and productively.
c. troubleshoot systems and applications.
d. transfer current knowledge to learning of new technologies
I would use this in my classroom maybe after an interesting story we discussed and have children add their own twist which meets the standards above.

Today in class we learned how creating a minibiography in a social network site helps students develop competencies in the Partnership for 21st Century Skills standards for Information, Communication and Technology. This is shown because it helps students to communication/networking tools and social networks appropriately to access, manage, integrate, evaluate and create information to successfully function in a knowledge economy. Also it applies a fundamental understanding of the ethical/legal issues surrounding the access and use of information technologies.I think this is a good way for students to learn from eachother which allows students to share ideas. I would use this type of program in my classroom to help students grow and learn with different projects through the economy.

It is important for students to be able to understand information they are learning and be able to refer it to other things. The power point magazine lesson refers to the 21st century skills by utilizing the most appropriate media creation tools, characteristics and conventions. I feel like this would be a good lesson to teach as a teacher because it allows students to reflect on what they learned by using tools.

I think students are able to gather information and learning from it like deconstructing Arnold in the power point lesson. The 21st century reflects on how to apply a fundamental understanding of the ethical/legal issues surrounding the access and use of media. This is a great way to teach student through other people so that they can visually see how others are through education.

Today in class we created a wordle about web 2.0. We posted the wordle to facebook and also uploaded them to our blog. This activity would be helpful when I become a teacher to measure the students success over a certain topic. The learning skills that relate best to this assignment would be that it use Systems thinking
Analyze how parts of a whole interact with each other to produce overall outcomes in complex systems. This assignement allows students to visually produce what they learned and share with other students.

Day 13 3/2/2010
Today in class we learned to book mark important pages to our blackboard. This helps organize important links to websites to help find them easier and locate thins quicker. By adding different book marks helped the class meet the learning standard of applying Technology Effectively. THis also allowed students to use technology as a tool to research, organize, evaluate and communicate information. Also we emailed two nouns and adjatives about web 2.0 to our professor. I finally was able to get caught up and post my power point presentation.

Collaborative story writing helps students build many skills in writing. By collaborating before writing students can stop and analyze the subject. This also gives students the chance to discuss the topic with others, which informs them better and allows them to share and gain ideas. This topic is related to life and career skills because it allows students to interact effectively with others. This allows students to know when it is appropriate to listen and when to speak. It also allows students to conduct themselves in a respectable, professional manner.
Collaborative story writing helps students build many skills through learning and innovation skills. The learning and innovation skill that relates to collaborative writing skills is working creatively with others. By working creatively with others helps develop, implement and communicate new ideas to others effectively. It also allows students to be open and responsive to new and diverse perspectives; incorporate group input and feedback into the work. It can demonstrate originality and inventiveness in work and understand the real world limits to adopting new ideas. Lastly it allows students to view failure as an opportunity to learn; understand that creativity and innovation is a long-term, cyclical process of small successes and frequent mistakes. All of these things are a process that help student understand, and think more about writing.

Day 12 2/25/2010
In class we did collaberative story writing with 5th graders. I made a comment to my indians story which was very interesting. We also used Hypermedia quiz, which helps students build life skills in many ways. When students take the quiz it allows them to Monitor, define, prioritize and complete tasks without direct oversight. So the skill that is related to the life and career skills is working independently. I think this would be a good lesson for students to be able to know how to use quizzes such as hypermedia so that they are able to be successful when tested on information they are taught.
